Nicholas Dumont Nicholas Dumont was an important Parisian harpsichord maker from 1675 to at least 1707 whose harpsichords occasionally appear in 18th century inventories and were valuable enough to have inspired at least one fake. The 1707 harpsichord featured in these concerts is one of the earliest examples of a five octave instrument that became the standard 18th century Parisian harpsichord. It was purchased by the de Quinsonas family in 1719 for their country estate in Isère and remains in surprisingly original condition. These concerts will highlight the perfect balance between articulation and sonority of this remarkable instrument. |
